Talkwalker’s Battle of the Brands: Pepsi vs Coca-Cola - Part 2

A weekly section on brand chatter in the social space

Talkwalker’s Battle of the Brands: Pepsi vs Coca-Cola - Part 2
With the Cricket World Cup in full swing, it’s no surprise that everyone is focusing on the brands that have gone all out in their marketing efforts this season. However, there are definitely ways for brands to go big during an event like the #CWC19 on a small budget. Here are 6 guerrilla marketing hacks you can benefit from!

Let us see how Pepsi and Coca-Cola fare in this marketing war on social media.

Emojis:

Both brands have always played heavily on the emotion card - especially Coke, which sells the concept of happiness. For this edition, we see that both brands are quite evenly matched with a plethora of emojis attached to them. Coca Cola for instance has a good mix of emojis. You can also see their involvement with our tournaments and associations with the South Korean flag for example. For Pepsi, the South African flag is on associated with them because of the match on 6th June between India and South Africa – which India won!

Geographical Mentions:

The question on everyone’s mind now is probably the same. Which part of the country sings for #cricketwithcoke versus “Yeh dil mange more”! Looks like it’s Coca Cola with the majority of mentions in all metro areas – Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Chennai, Bangalore and Kolkata. Gujarat seems evenly divided though.
