NDTV has appointed Naveen Kapoor as editor of NDTV World, reinforcing the network’s global editorial leadership as it expands its international news footprint. The move forms part of NDTV’s broader strategy to deepen its global focus and strengthen its positioning in the international news landscape.
Kapoor brings over 25 years of newsroom experience and has held senior leadership roles across several prominent news organisations. He has been part of the core leadership teams at Times Now, WION and Press Trust of India (PTI), contributing to the building and scaling of platforms that now lead in their respective segments.
Commenting on the appointment, Rahul Kanwal, CEO and editor-in-chief, NDTV, said, “Naveen’s experience in building global newsrooms and leading complex editorial operations makes him a strong addition to NDTV World as we deepen our international focus. His leadership and editorial depth align strongly with our journalism-first approach.”
Prior to joining NDTV, Kapoor served as the founding editor of PTI’s Video Services, where he established a modern television and digital news agency from inception. His remit included developing editorial frameworks, setting up domestic and international bureaus, implementing newsroom systems and aligning content delivery mechanisms with international standards.
Earlier, as head of newsroom at WION, described as India’s first global news channel, he played a central role in expanding the channel’s global footprint and strengthening its coverage of major geopolitical and world events. His tenure focused on building credibility and enhancing international reach, positioning the channel within a competitive global news environment.
At Times Now, Kapoor held the role of senior vice president and chief of news operations. He was part of the core team responsible for shaping the channel’s editorial and operational foundations, supporting its growth into a leading news network. Across these roles, he has overseen coverage of significant national and international stories, built high-performing newsroom teams and driven journalism that balances credibility, speed and global perspective.
Kapoor holds a BA (Honours) in English from Delhi University, a diploma in journalism from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and has completed the Reuters Foundation Course in TV Journalism. He has also undertaken TV broadcast journalism training in the United States under the International Visitor Leadership Program.
In his new role, Kapoor will lead the editorial direction of NDTV World, with a mandate to strengthen its global outlook, deepen editorial depth and uphold credible, independent journalism. The appointment underlines NDTV’s continued investment in editorial leadership as it seeks to enhance its international positioning and newsroom capabilities.
