Siddhartha Roy steps down from Hungama leadership

His exit closes a multi-year leadership phase that shaped the company’s digital entertainment capabilities.

Siddhartha Roy has resigned from his role as chief executive officer of Hungama Digital Media Entertainment, ending a tenure that contributed to the company’s position in India’s digital entertainment sector. His departure concludes a period in which Hungama strengthened its portfolio across music, video, games and newer consumer experiences.

During his tenure, Roy led initiatives that broadened Hungama’s global presence and expanded its services to users across more than 90 countries. He also oversaw partnerships across telecom operators, OEMs and distribution networks, ensuring deeper integration of Hungama’s content within consumer ecosystems. The organisation’s ties with content creators and studios were further consolidated under his leadership, reinforcing its role within the wider entertainment supply chain.

Before joining Hungama, Roy co-founded BigAdda, which was one of India’s early youth-focused digital networks. His earlier roles at MTV Networks and Star TV shaped his experience in building digital products and engaging audiences at scale. Across these positions, Roy’s focus remained on developing platforms aligned with shifts in consumer behaviour and digital consumption.

Reflecting on his exit, Roy said, “Hungama has been far more than a role — it has been a space of innovation, passion, and continuous growth. I am deeply grateful to my team for their unwavering trust and support throughout this journey. As I move forward, I carry these learnings and relationships with me.”

As Roy moves ahead professionally, he leaves Hungama with a stable operational base shaped by his emphasis on consumer experience, product innovation and strategic industry collaborations.
