The app reacts to a delivery partner consuming food from a delivery parcel and then re-packing it

Zomato issues apology, to launch tamper-proof tapes for delivery
Zomato has released a statement post an incident that went viral on social media on 10 December.

A video from Madurai of one of its delivery partners was doing the rounds on social media, which showed him opening a delivery package, consuming some food and then re-packing it.

The restaurant discovery and food delivery app has stated that it will soon introduce tamper-proof tapes to take on the posibility of tampering with food delivery parcels. The man in question in the video has also been taken off the platform.

Read the statement here:

"In our commitment towards mitigating any possibility of tampering with food,  Zomato will soon introduce tamper-proof tapes, and other precautionary measures to ensure we safeguard against any chances of tampering of food. Zomato has a zero tolerance policy for tampering of food.

We have found that the video was shot in Madurai; the person in the video is a delivery partner on our fleet. We have spoken to him at length - and while we understand that this was a human error in judgement, have taken him off the platform.

This incident only makes our commitment to fleet training, scheduling and process even stronger. We stand behind our extensive fleet who do the right thing across many hours of the day."
