One of the most eagerly awaited movies of 2009 hits theatres today - R Balki's Paa.

Generous praise from the preview screenings has already started pouring in and we hear it being described with phrases like "outstanding", "brilliant", "soulful", "must watch", "witty" and more. Tinsel town has already begun tweeting about the film.

Film critic Nikhat Kazmi has this to say- "....Refreshingly, the film steers clear of all sentimentality and handles the overflow of emotions with restraint and subtlety. All you feel are a few gentle tugs at your heart, as Auro insists on making you laugh most of the time with his witty one-liners on life, love and longing.... Read the rest of the review, here.

Journalist, entertainment magnate Pritish Nandy says, “Loved AB, Abhishek and Vidya Balan in Paa. Gentle movie. Great performances. Just in time for the year-end awards. Paa is easy, funny, tugs at your heart occasionally, reaffirms AB as an amazing actor. Abhishek charms you. So does Vidya Balan.” Read the rest of the review, here.

The Economic Times' review says, "...And Balki has an absolutely different definition for drama. His storytelling is supremely simple and subtle. Much of the plot is predictable but the director’s lighthearted approach to a subject, which otherwise could have been melodramatically reduced to a tearjerker, makes it different." The Guardian has reviewed the film, too. Read the review here.

As has The New York Times, read the review here.

Rediff.com says ...."Director R Balakrishnan aka Balki's Paa celebrates the purest phase of an individual with such touching simplicity; it's impossible to remain unmoved." Read the rest of the review here.

Film critic Taran Adarsh says, ....PAA is a simple film told in the most simplistic manner and that's one of the prime reasons why this film works big time." Read the rest of the review, here

Go catch it!

It is the best thing to do this weekend!
