The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) has launched a nationwide investor awareness campaign titled ‘Soch Kar, Samajh Kar, Invest Kar’. Drawing on visual and thematic cues from the recently renewed interest in the sci-fi series Stranger Things, the campaign uses the show’s concept of the ‘Upside Down’ as a metaphor for deceptive trading and investment platforms that appear authentic but operate dishonestly.
In the series, the ‘Upside Down’ mirrors the real world but conceals hidden risks. NSE adapts this idea to highlight how fraudulent apps replicate the look and feel of legitimate trading platforms. These apps typically use similar logos, user interfaces and promotional content to convince users of their legitimacy. Many also promise risk-free, guaranteed returns, which the exchange identifies as a primary indicator of potential financial fraud.
The campaign encourages individuals to apply three simple steps before committing to online investment activity. It asks them to think carefully before downloading any trading or investment application, to understand whether the platform is genuine, regulated and secure, and to invest only after verifying its authenticity through official and trusted sources. These steps aim to help investors recognise distorted or misleading cues that may mask fraudulent intent.
To extend its reach, NSE will distribute campaign content through digital channels, including Instagram and Facebook, and through broader outreach programmes across India. The materials will include practical guidance on identifying fake platforms and explanations of common warning signals associated with online financial scams.
NSE states that the initiative reinforces its ongoing efforts to promote investor protection through awareness programmes, regulatory engagement and educational resources. The exchange aims to support a more informed audience capable of navigating online investment environments confidently and reducing exposure to fraudulent schemes.
