Kobalt has announced a global publishing partnership with Madverse Music Group, an India-based, tech-driven music distribution and marketing company supporting over 150,000 independent artists and labels across India and South Asia.
The partnership is designed to improve how Indian music travels globally, with Kobalt providing publishing administration across more than 180 territories. This includes royalty collection, metadata accuracy and access to sync opportunities, addressing long-standing monetisation gaps for independent creators.
Madverse has built its platform around creator access and scale, positioning itself as one of the region’s fastest-growing music ecosystems. The partnership aligns with its ‘Independent, Not Alone’ philosophy, allowing artists to retain ownership and creative control while benefiting from global infrastructure.
Rohan Nesho Jain, CEO of Madverse, said, “For too long, Indian creators have left money on the table simply because the infrastructure to collect global royalties was broken and almost non-existent.” He added that publishing royalties often act as long-term income streams, reinforcing the need for sustainable systems.
From Kobalt’s perspective, the partnership strengthens its footprint in South Asia’s independent music market. Simon Moor, managing director APAC, Kobalt, said, “By combining their creator-first approach with Kobalt’s global publishing infrastructure, we’re committed to ensuring Madverse songwriters and producers have the resources, accuracy, and reach they need to succeed on an international scale.”
Beyond operational efficiency, the collaboration has marketing implications for how Indian music is positioned globally. Improved rights management and metadata accuracy increase the likelihood of discovery, licensing and international brand collaborations.
The partnership expands access to professionally managed independent music, potentially broadening the pool of culturally relevant soundtracks for campaigns targeting global audiences. As independent creators increasingly drive cultural influence, the Kobalt–Madverse partnership reflects how infrastructure, rather than visibility alone, is becoming central to long-term growth in the music ecosystem.
