Western Union to light up villages this Diwali

Pledges Rs 20 lakh, besides additional contribution for money received in India

This Diwali, money transfer player Western Union has pledged to donate Rs 20 lakh towards lighting up the lives of some of the 30 crore Indians who live in villages without electricity. In addition to which, it will donate an amount per remittance made to India during the festive period: from 15 October to 30 November 2015.

The initiative is part of a global effort themed 'The Chain of Betters' from Western Union.

Communicating the effort in India is an online film, which tells the story of Manoj Pandey, who returns home after 10 years to his village, to witness something special: his village getting electricity.

Have a wonderful weekend. And spread the festive cheer.
