Oppo goes out-of-the-box for Reno6's unboxing with Ranbir Kapoor

Watch the film conceptualised by Wieden+Kennedy here

Oppo has rolled out the 'unboxing video' as a part of its launch campaign for the Reno6 series smartphone.

The film features brand ambassador Ranbir Kapoor and has been conceptualised by Wieden+Kennedy Delhi. As Kapoor finishes a shot on a set, he's handed a box of the Reno6 phone. Kapoor goes on to show its features by getting experts to sample it; the styling is approved by a makeup artist, the camera by a photographer and the ease of its editing app by a video editor. He goes on to show the fast-charging feature with a song by The F16s.

Damyant Singh Khanoria, chief marketing officer, Oppo India, said, "The concept of this unboxing is unique and fresh, much like the Oppo Reno6. Using a phone unboxing to catapult our brand into culture, whilst also showcasing the amazing design and technology was well thought and executed as well. Love that track from F16!”

Dean Wei, ECD, W+K Delhi, said, “This idea really excited me the minute I saw it. It’s both simultaneously a product demo and a bit of entertainment. The idea is smart, original and a lot of fun. I love the potent combination of Ranbir and The F16s, and Reema Sengupta at Catnip did a great job capturing the energy we were after. I’m so pleased to see the W+K and Oppo teams knock it out of the park like this.”

Gautham Narayanan, MD, W+K Delhi, added, “The OPPO Reno6 is a great device that deserves great marketing. I haven’t checked, but I don’t think I’ve seen a band launch a track in the middle of an unboxing video before - cultural traction to drive fame to drive sales. What I love is that it’s so simple, yet fresh. We’re confident it’ll drive the Oppo brand and the business forward.”
