UTVi’s Arun Anant puts in his papers

UTVi’s chief executive officer has called it quits. Shantonu Aditya who is the executive director of four UTV channels will replace Anant. Anant’s next destination is not known yet.  He joined UTVi in November 2007 from Economic Times where he was vice president.

UTV New Media acquires 76% stake in IT Nation

UTV New Media, the digital media arm of UTV Software Communications, has acquired a controlling stake of 76% for a consideration of Rs 15 crores in IT Nation, online technology company.UTV New Media wants to invest around Rs. 120 crores over the next two years in a combination of the Internet space with a portfolio of 10 portals, in the digital music space, in the online technology space with IT Nation and in the online business space with UTVi.com the business website.

YouTube launches its Indian version

YouTube has launched its Indian version, YouTube India (www.youtube.co.in). The portal will focus on videos from and for India.    YouTube India has tied up with Ministry of Tourism, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), NDTV, Rajshri Media, Zoom, UTVi and Music Today for their channels on the website. The model for the revenue sharing arrangements between YouTube India and its partners is similar to Google’s AdSense program.

UTVi goes on air

UTVi, the business channel from UTV, went live on April 27. No official announcement of the launch has been made as the distribution roll out is currently in progress. Industry watchers will be closely watching the markets band as the channel's editorial is headed by veteran business journalist Govindaraj Ethiraj, who headed the editorial function of CNBC TV18 when it launched in India.

UTV to launch biz channel by April end

UTV has formally announced the launch of its English business news channel, UTVi. It has tied up with Disney-ABC International Television, Asia Pacific for ABC News’ programming and services. Various programs of ABC will be aired on UTVi like Good Morning America, Evening News and 20-20.
