I slept with a Lion last night. He was inspirational, truly majestic and extremely discerning. Opened my mind to endless possibilities and subjected me to intense speculation. And taught me a lesson in humility I hope never to forget.
This is a blog so what the hell. Take a bow JWT Mumbai. Run around the atrium, takeover Grapevine (the restaurant in Peninsula Corporate Park), bring on the bugles.
We had our moment yesterday and may there be more.
I was told to walk slowly, look pretty. Did neither. It was your Andy Warhol two seconds of fame and then it was gone. India cheered, the rest waited for the next. And we moved on.
Its not whether you win or lose but how you play the game has just taken a new twist for me. Cannes is about the metal. It is mine is bigger than yours. We kill ourselves, move mountains, bribe, cajole to get good work out. And then before you say 'Cannes' it's gone.
So this blog is dedicated to all those who didn't make it. For the persistence, tenacity, hope unfulfilled. For the fuel that propels you to do more and the resolution that your piece of work is better than the best. For the sacrifice and the grit. The glory is yours too.
On the seminar, another JWT plug but relevant. Fernando Vega Olmos spoke about crisis and how we should embrace it. Made it sound exciting --almost sexy-- and asked us to truly do something different today. And he was barefoot on stage. Trivia yes. Interesting considering the topic. Yes.Yes.
More later. Have a telecon in a bit. I work hard. Yes. Yes.
