Tata Play Binge is expanding its micro-drama offering ‘Shots’ with the addition of Pocket Films, reinforcing its focus on short-form, snackable storytelling. The partnership brings a mix of micro-dramas and short films to the platform, available as an ad-supported offering at no additional cost, as part of its broader content and engagement strategy.
The inclusion of Pocket Films strengthens Shots as a dedicated destination for quick-consumption content tailored to always-on, digital-first audiences. Known for its focus on short-format narratives, Pocket Films adds a catalogue that includes micro-dramas such as Chaturanga, Vidushi, Maasa, Silent Cycle, and Pilibhit, alongside short films like Lock-up, Dubki, Paath, The Disguise, Exchange Offer, Bena, and Special Day. These titles contribute to expanding both the genre diversity and cultural depth of the platform.
The move aligns with growing demand for short-form storytelling formats that cater to evolving viewing habits. With decreasing attention spans and increased mobile consumption, platforms are investing in vertical, easily discoverable formats that enable seamless viewing experiences. Shots has been designed with this behaviour in mind, offering a vertical video interface, scroll-friendly navigation, and auto-next playback to encourage continuous engagement.
The addition of Pocket Films also builds on existing partnerships with Bullet and STAGE, taking the platform’s overall offering to over 210 micro-dramas and 220 hours of content across genres such as action, drama, and thriller in Hindi and regional languages. The ad-supported model ensures accessibility while also creating monetisation opportunities through advertising, positioning the platform within the growing AVOD ecosystem.
The integration of Shots within the Tata Play Binge app, including dedicated homepage rails and a standalone section, eliminates the need for users to switch between apps or manage multiple subscriptions. This unified user interface reflects a broader aggregation strategy aimed at simplifying content discovery while increasing platform stickiness.
Pallavi Puri, chief commercial and content officer, Tata Play, said, "As short-format storytelling continues to gain traction across the country, we remain committed to ensuring that viewers always have access to fresh, engaging content, while giving our partners a powerful and seamless platform to reach wider audiences."
Sameer Mody, founder and managing director, Pocket Films, added, "We’ve always believed in the power of short-format storytelling to create a strong emotional impact in a short span of time. Partnering with Tata Play Binge’s Shots gives us an exciting opportunity to take our diverse catalogue of micro-dramas and short films to a wider, highly engaged audience. This collaboration aligns perfectly with our vision of making meaningful, culturally relevant stories more accessible, while tapping into the growing demand for quick, high-quality content experiences."
Shots is part of a broader content ecosystem on Tata Play Binge, which aggregates multiple OTT platforms including Prime Video, JioHotstar, ZEE5, Apple TV, Lionsgate, and Discovery+, among others. By integrating short-form content alongside long-form OTT offerings, the platform is positioning itself as a comprehensive entertainment hub catering to varied consumption patterns.
The expansion highlights how OTT platforms are increasingly leveraging partnerships and format innovation to diversify content portfolios and drive user engagement in a competitive streaming landscape.
