Spikes 2013: Techtalk launched

The Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity taking place from 15 to 17 September in Singapore, will launch TechTalk this year, a new stream of technology content presented by innovative tech companies from across Apac.

TechTalk, a collaboration between Spikes Asia and MediaLink, in partnership with Omnicom Media Group (including PHD and OMD), will present a total of two curated talks per day during the three-day festival.

“With emerging companies either based in Asia or looking to Asia for expansion, TechTalk will play a key role in the programming line up at Spikes. The fast-changing communications industry constantly embraces new forms of technology in its quest to produce more creative brand communications for its clients. TechTalk will provide this informative platform essential for business growth,” said Terry Savage, chairman, Lions Festivals.
TechTalk, launched by Cannes Lions in collaboration with MediaLink in 2012, was again featured in 2013 presenting sessions on topics ranging from native advertising to content tech to a focus on screens and interactivity. Companies that were part of TechTalk at Cannes 2013 included Outbrain, Machinima, Maker, Vibrant, Shazam, PubMatic, Conde Nast Entertainment, Paramount Pictures, Tremor Video, and the NY Post.

TechTalk at Spikes will see companies like Trinax, Videology and Amobee (a SingTel’s Digital L!fe Group division) presenting in the inaugural edition.

“Given the success at Cannes Lions, we are ‘taking the show on the road’ and expanding TechTalk to Spikes Asia,” said Michael Kassan, CEO of MediaLink.

He added, “Our partnership with Lions Festivals and now with Omnicom Media Group, enables us to further the mission of TechTalk. Marketing innovation and excellence are at the core of both of these organisations. Creating, and now expanding, TechTalk is an extension of MediaLink’s mission of partnering with world-class companies to help them ‘rise above the noise’.”
Cheuk Chiang, CEO of Omnicom Media Group, Asia Pacific, said , “We are excited to be partnering with MediaLink to bring the best up and coming communications technology companies to Spikes Asia. Omnicom Media Group and its brands OMD, PHD and M2M have always believed in supporting new and innovative companies that bring fresh ways of working to our clients. Driving innovation has and will always be at the heart of what we do, so supporting these young companies is important to us.”
