Sony Playstation launches SingStar

Mumbai saw Sony Computer Entertainment launch its very first SingStar room in the country. SingStar is a karaoke game compatible with the Sony Playstation 2 and enables people to participate in karaoke competitions with their family and friends. SingStar comes with fully licensed tracks, videos and the complete lyrics for every song.

Atindriya Bose, country manager, Sony Computer Entertainment said, "SingStar features actual songs and videos recorded by popular artists; it adds an element of realism never before seen in a singing game. These are instant party-starters and enjoyed in groups immensely."

SingStar enables people to compete with a friend at any given place, and scores instantly on the basis of various aspects of singing. Pitch and timing, singing along with a partner in variety of modes helps decide a contestant's rating and points.

Bose said that the company would be launching more retail touch points for SingStar across the country in popular places like night-clubs and music stores. 10 to 15 day 'singing fights' and SingStar parties would also be organized across BPOs and IT Parks.
