Reliance Industries' next steps for a 'digital India' include smartphone, Jio TV+, Jio Glass and more
During Reliance Industries' 43rd AGM in which Google's investment into the company was announced, the company also announced the launch of new digital services which included Reliance Jio TV, a new smartphone, Jio Glass and Jio Meet among others.
 
Reliance Jio TV+
 
The service will offer Indian consumers content from more than 12 global OTT players with a single sign-on. The service has content from the likes of YouTube, Voot, Prime Video, Sony Liv, Sun Nxt, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Hotstar and Netflix under one login ID. 
 
TV channels have been integrated under Jio TV+ too. Now, with Jio Fiber Reliance Industries is looking to bring interactivity to TV. One can participate in polls through the Jio Remote. On news channels, sports channels also there will be interactivity involved. For non-smart TV users, they can use the Jio App store on the set top box to connect with the apps to enjoy interactivity. 
 
Jio Glass
 
Also announced during the meet was Jio Glass. Weighing 75 grams, the product has been created 'for a truly meaningful and immersive experience' according to the company. Jio Glass can help enter meetings in 3D virtual rooms in real time. 
 
JioMeet
 
While Reliance Industries had announced the launch of JioMeet recently, at the meeting they explained how the video conferencing platform can be used by schools for education as there's no limit on the call duration and unlimited participants can be on call. 
 
The service can also be used in healthcare for video consultations. 
 
Smartphone
 
Reliance Industries is looking to enter the smartphone space. Partnering with Google's Android, according to Mukesh Ambani the phone will be provided at a fraction of the cost of a smartphone with 4G and 5G capabilities. 
 
Ambani had also announced that Jio has created a complete 5G solution from scratch that will enable the company to launch 5G service in 100 using 100 per cent home grown tech and solutions. It will be ready for trial as soon as 5G spectrum is available. Once it serves India, Jio Platforms can export the 5G solutions to other telecom operators globally as a complete managed service.
