Pocket FM has appointed former Meta AI scientist Vasu Sharma as head of AI, reinforcing its focus on AI-powered storytelling and creator-first innovation. Sharma will report to co-founder Prateek Dixit and lead AI research, applied innovation and foundation model development across the platform.
Sharma joins from Meta’s Facebook AI Research division, where he worked on large-scale multimodal and large language model programmes including Llama, Chameleon, MaVIL and audio-video foundation models. He brings an academic background with over 90 research papers published across conferences such as NeurIPS, CVPR, ACL, EMNLP and ICLR, with more than 10,000 citations.
At Pocket FM, Sharma’s mandate includes advancing proprietary Pocket LLMs and the AI CoPilot, which support story ideation, drafting, plot design, editing, emotional toning and multi-language localisation. These tools are central to the platform’s creator ecosystem and global expansion strategy.
Sharma said Pocket FM operates at a rare intersection of AI, creativity and scale, with a mature creator ecosystem. He added that his focus would be on building fiction-native systems and evolving the AI CoPilot into a creative assistant that helps writers preserve voice and emotional cadence while localising stories with cultural precision.
From a marketing and platform perspective, AI plays a critical role in enabling Pocket FM’s content velocity and global reach. AI-assisted workflows allow the platform to scale production while maintaining narrative consistency across markets.
Dixit said Sharma’s expertise in multimodal and long-form language models would accelerate Pocket FM’s creator-first AI vision. He reiterated that the company views AI as an enabler of imagination rather than a replacement for human creativity. The appointment signals Pocket FM’s intent to position itself not just as an audio platform, but as an AI-led entertainment studio. By embedding AI deeper into its creative stack, Pocket FM is also strengthening its value proposition to creators, offering tools that enhance productivity without diluting authorship.
