Live from New York, O&M’s ‘Stomach’ campaign wins Bronze Pencil

The 2008 One Show awards night saw India bag one Bronze Pencil at the gala reception held in New York on Wednesday night.  The winning campaign was from O&M India for its entry titled ‘Stomach’ for GlaxoSmithKline which won a Bronze Pencil in the Posters campaign category. The tally is disappointing given that India had sent in a total of 791 entries to The One Show, this year.

The 2008 One Show awards night saw India bag one Bronze Pencil at the gala reception held in New York on Wednesday night.  The winning campaign was from O&M India for its entry titled ‘Stomach’ for GlaxoSmithKline which won a Bronze Pencil in the Posters campaign category. The tally is disappointing given that India had sent in a total of 791 entries to The One Show, this year. In terms of number of entries sent, India was fourth only to the United States, Germany and Canada.  The One Show Design awards, held the previous night, had been a better hunting ground for India’s Adland, when it won three Gold Pencils in the advertising and design categories.

With 54 Pencils, United States got the maximum number of awards on Wednesday night as the gala award reception got underway at the Lincoln Centre in New York, trailed by Germany and United Kingdom. The night was dominated by TBWA network that won a total of 12 Pencils, including 2 Gold Pencils, 6 Silver Pencils and 4 Bronze Pencils. They were followed closely by BBDO New York which won 9 Pencils in all with a higher number of Gold Pencils, in their tally. Saatchi & Saatchi and O&M bagged seven and six Pencils respectively.

Other key winners of the night included McCann Worldgroup SF & T.A.G who won the prestigious ‘Best of Show’ for their integrated branding campaign for the launch of Microsoft’s XBOX Halo 3 video game and Burger King which was named 2008 Client of the Year.
