Jasmin, O&M win at Media Agency of the Year awards

Jasmin Sohrabji, managing director, OMD India has won in the Agency head of the Year- national category at the 2009 Media Agency of the Year awards. In the category India and sub-continent office, the winner was O&M, Mumbai. The runner-up in the category was Publicis Communications. Kapil Arora, VP, O&M, Mumbai was the runner-up in the category Account/Business Development person.

Jasmin Sohrabji, managing director, OMD India has won in the Agency head of the Year- national category at the 2009 Media Agency of the Year awards. In the category India and sub-continent office, the winner was O&M, Mumbai. The runner-up in the category was Publicis Communications. Kapil Arora, VP, O&M, Mumbai was the runner-up in the category Account/Business Development person.

In the category Creative Agency of the Year, the winner was BBH, China, Singapore and India. The runner-up in the category was Publicis APAC. 
It was a disappointing show for India in the Creative of the Year category with no wins. Spencer Wong, McCann Worldgroup Hong Kong group managing director and chief creative officer for China was the winner in this category.

Some of the other wins in Asia included Carat/Isobar for Network of the Year; PHD for Media Agency of the Year; Tribal DDB for Digital Agency of the Year, while Specialist Agency of the Year went to McCann Healthcare. 

Talking to Campaign India after the awards ceremony, Sohrabji said, "It feels very good, I am glad for the OMD opportunity. The agency has had some good wins tonight and am happy to have contributed to that success and thankful to my team for their support and contribution to the work."

The jury for the awards comprised of Atifa Hargrave-Silk, editor-in-chief, Media magazine; Laura Ashton, SVP, marketing, Asia Pacific; and country head, India, Electrolux Major Appliances; Susan Ho, group brand development, Asia Pacific, Standard Chartered Bank; Leonardo O Grady, director, sparkling activation platforms, Coca Cola Asia Pacific; Christoph Peter-Isenbuerger, head of marketing, Asia Pacific, Puma; Ai June Schult, VP and marketing head, Southeast and South Asia and country manager, Indochina, Mastercard Worldwide; Loren Shuster, head of marketing, Southeast Asia Nokia; Shawn Warren, vice-president, Kraft Foods Asia Pacific, Michael O'Neill, features editor, Media and Asiya Bakht, senior reporter, Media.   

The award results were audited by Pricewaterhouse Coopers, this is the seventh time the company has been involved with the event. The Media Agency of the Year awards is conducted annually by Media magazine, a Haymarket publication, and a sister title to Campaign India.
