GREW Solar taps cricket stars for campaign

The solar brand uses cricket-led storytelling to position clean energy as a performance driver for India’s next generation of growth.

GREW Solar has launched a new ad film titled ‘The Next Starts Here’, featuring Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Washington Sundar from the Gujarat Titans. Anchored by the brand endline ‘GREW Solar – Powering the Next’, the campaign marks the company’s continued investment in purpose-driven storytelling, positioning clean energy as a foundational enabler of future performance.

This is GREW Solar’s second cricket-led campaign in 2026, following its earlier TVC with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women’s Team. While the previous campaign positioned the brand as a practical growth partner for businesses, this latest film expands the narrative to link energy reliability with ambition and achievement across sectors.

The ad film is built on the insight that progress is determined by the reliability of its underlying infrastructure. Using cricket as a metaphor, the narrative traces the evolution of young athletes training under fading daylight to performing under stadium lights. The storyline positions solar energy as the constant force enabling that transition, reinforcing the idea that energy, though often invisible, plays a critical role in shaping outcomes.

The campaign blends aspirational storytelling with grounded, real-life parallels. While rooted in cricket, the narrative extends to a broader business and societal context, reflecting how organisations and individuals are increasingly adopting solar energy to ensure continuity and remove operational constraints. The storytelling approach aligns with a shift towards purpose-led brand narratives that connect functional benefits with larger cultural and economic themes.

Vinay Thadani, ceo and executive director, GREW Solar, said, "This Ad-film campaign reflects how we see the role of energy having evolved from a background utility to a critical driver of performance on a global platform. Just as elite athletes rely on discipline and consistency, businesses today need power sources they can depend on without compromise. Through this film, we wanted to position solar energy not as an alternative, but as the foundation for reliable, future-ready growth."

The campaign is targeted at a new generation of decision-makers, including high-growth businesses and infrastructure developers, who increasingly view energy reliability as central to operational performance. By aligning with high-visibility cricket talent and a leading IPL franchise, the brand leverages the cultural reach of sport to amplify its messaging.

Rosette Soares, head - corporate branding, GREW Solar, added, "With The Next Starts Here, we set out to speak to a modern India; young, ambitious, resilient, and deeply aware that sustainable energy isn’t a distant goal, but a present imperative. The Gujarat Titans mirror this very spirit: energetic, driven, and relentlessly forward-looking. This Ad film is our promise that GREW Solar will be there at every step, powering progress and enabling the journey ahead. We are the dreamers and doers".

The campaign launches at a time of significant growth in India’s solar sector. The country added a record 45 GW of solar capacity in FY 2025–26, surpassing 150 GW of cumulative installed solar PV capacity. Solar now accounts for 55% of India’s total renewable energy mix, with the country ranked third globally in solar PV adoption. Gujarat, home to both the Gujarat Titans and GREW Solar’s manufacturing base, contributed 8,952 MW of new capacity during this period.

The ad film will be amplified through a T20 cricket premier league media strategy, combining digital-first storytelling with targeted outreach across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and the company’s website. This integrated approach reflects the brand’s focus on reaching both mass and business audiences through contextual, high-impact channels.

With two major campaigns in a single year, GREW Solar is positioning itself within India’s clean energy narrative through culturally relevant storytelling that connects infrastructure with aspiration.
