The customer engagement and retention platform provider CleverTap has acquired rehook.ai, a promotions automation solution startup backed by Y Combinator. rehook.ai helps brands manage their coupons, discounts, gamification, referral, and loyalty programmes.

With this acquisition, CleverTap will merge the analytics, engagement, and promotions automation capabilities of rehook.ai with its customer engagement and retention platform, providing brands with a single unified solution. The acquisition is expected to provide brands with the ability to create, distribute, track, and optimise diverse campaigns from a single platform to help increase conversions and boost user retention.

Anand Jain, co-founder and chief product officer, CleverTap, said, “rehook.ai's acquisition will enhance our engagement ecosystem, helping businesses drive retention with precision. This will allow us to unlock multiple use cases across industries like gaming, retail, and financial services. While helping brands craft personalised, AI-driven experiences, this will also open up cross-selling and upselling opportunities for their integrated promotions management. It will help our customers maximise lifetime value, drive sustainable growth, and build stronger, more loyal relationships with their users.”

Brands can address a range of customer needs throughout the user lifecycle from acquisition to onboarding to retention to loyalty. With rehook.ai's real-time promotional data feature, CleverTap customers will be able to trigger timely offers based on user behaviour and context, improving customer satisfaction.

Akhil Suhag, CEO and co-founder at rehook.ai, said, “We help businesses make their promotions smarter, dynamic, and impactful. The acquisition will provide us with the scale and reach to bring this vision to a global audience. CleverTap's expertise in segmentation, real-time analytics, and engagement will enhance how we power personalised promotions, making them more effective.”

CleverTap was in the news recently for several customer wins. For instance, it partnered with upGrad to introduce AI-led marketing training and with FNP to support customer engagement at scale. Last year, it reported INR 430 crore revenue marking a 6.27% increase over the previous year's performance.

Last year, it also announced a few other customer wins including Zoomcar and Niyo. The martech player helps brands build personalised experiences for their customers. A few of its over 2000 brand clients include Decathlon, Domino's, Levis, Jio, Emirates NBD, Puma, Croma (A Tata Enterprise), Swiggy, SonyLIV, Axis Bank, AirAsia, TD Bank, Ooredoo, and Tesco.
