Breaking News: BBDO's Lubars to chair 2009 Cannes' Film, Press juries

David Lubars, chairman and chief creative officer, BBDO North America will chair both the Film and Press juries for the 2009 Cannes Lions festival.
He takes over from JWT's Craig Davis who chaired the 2008 jury. Lubars' time at BBDO has seen the agency being named the Network of the Year at Cannes for the last two years. The Gunn Report has named BBDO as the most awarded agency network in the world in 2007 and 2008. It may be recalled that Lubars was responsible for the legendary BMW films, a project that led to the creation of the Titanium Lions category at Cannes, the first of which was won by Lubars, during his time at Fallon.

"David is a visionary whose boundless creativity is an inspiration to us all. He is a regular fixture on stage at Cannes, where he has collected Lions for outstanding work over many years," says Philip Thomas, CEO of Cannes Lions.

Lubars said, "I'm humbled to be chosen for this prestigious position. 'Film', in all forms, has taken on a new role and meaning in the industry. While press, though the oldest medium, still shows itself to be one of the freshest. I look forward to working with my fellow jurors to recognise the best of both forms."
