Berger Paints India, in collaboration with Sun TV, has marked a major milestone in Indian cinema with the unveiling of a large public art initiative commemorating the Superstar’s 50 years in the film industry. Announced on 23 December 2025, the initiative brings together art, community participation and popular culture through a series of murals created to honour the actor’s long-standing influence on audiences.
Titled ‘50 Years of Stardom’, the showcase comprises 50 murals created across formats, with a 40-ft Master Mural serving as the central installation. The project reflects the Superstar’s journey from debut to becoming a widely recognised cultural figure, with a focus on longevity, reinvention and sustained relevance across generations. Berger Paints has positioned the tribute as an alignment between the actor’s cinematic legacy and the company’s own 100-year presence in India.
The initiative was launched with the unveiling of the Master Mural at the VELS Trade & Convention Centre in Chennai. The event was attended by leading celebrities and industry figures and featured a curated gallery of artworks inspired by key phases from the Superstar’s on-screen career. The Master Mural itself incorporates 50 messages contributed by fans from across India, selected to represent personal memories and associations linked to the actor’s films.
According to the organisers, the artworks draw from the visual and cultural identity of Tamil Nadu, which has played a central role in shaping the Superstar’s career. The colour palette and design language reflect regional influences while remaining accessible to a wider national audience. By using murals as the medium, the campaign seeks to take the celebration beyond traditional event spaces and closer to everyday environments.
Abhijit Roy, managing director and chief executive officer at Berger Paints India, said, “As one of India’s leading paint companies with a legacy of 100 years, we understand the trust reposed on us and therefore Berger Paints is proud to acknowledge this phenomenal achievement by our Superstar in his extraordinary 50-year journey which has seen his fanbase increase not only within Tamil Nadu, but across India and spread across international borders. The murals being developed to celebrate this milestone have been inspired by the rich and vibrant cultural tapestry of Tamil Nadu, the foundation of his legacy.”
Following the Chennai unveiling, the murals will travel across the state as part of a ‘Mural Yatra’. Supported by Berger Paints’ retail network, the travelling installation will be displayed in multiple neighbourhoods across Tamil Nadu, allowing local communities to engage with the artwork in public spaces. The company said the aim is to make the tribute accessible rather than limited to a single venue.
The initiative has also seen participation from across the Berger Paints ecosystem, including more than 2,000 dealers, over 22,000 applicators and more than 1,000 engineers. Their involvement has been positioned as part of an industry-first approach that combines brand celebration with large-scale community engagement.
From a brand perspective, the campaign reinforces Berger Paints’ focus on colour as a cultural connector. The company said the initiative reflects its commitment to promoting India’s visual heritage through its decorative paints, protective coatings and product innovation. By partnering with Sun TV and using a public art format, Berger Paints has extended the campaign’s reach across media platforms and physical spaces.
The mural tribute underscores how brands are increasingly using culturally resonant storytelling and on-ground activations to build relevance. By anchoring the campaign in shared memories and regional identity, Berger Paints and Sun TV have framed the Superstar’s 50-year milestone as a collective celebration rather than a single commemorative event.
