Weekend Fun: Google takes its Street View to Mount Everest

The internet giant has partnered with Apa Sherpa to let viewers enjoy the majestic mountains, and its surroundings, from their homes

Yet another financial year is coming to an end and everyone’s dreaming of escaping the hustle and bustle of the city. Unfortunately, most of us are stuck burning away the midnight oil. But as another weekend approaches, Google might help you live that dream… sort of.

Google has partnered with Apa Sherpa and mapped and photographed the famous mountain (and its surrounding areas). The trek ‘The Khumbu trek’, uses Google’s Street View. Visitors can now ‘trek’ through the mountains and enjoy videos and pictures of the area - from monasteries to shelters!

With videos shot in crisp 1080p and Street Views’ excellent mechanism, this is the closest it gets to getting lost in nature.
