WPP elevates Babita Baruah as regional client lead for Ford's international markets group
WPP has elevated Babita Baruah as regional lead for the international markets group (IMG) region on the Ford business. The news has been confirmed by a WPP spokesperson.
 
Baruah was managing partner, GTB India, the agency created by WPP to service the Ford business. Since 1 November 2018, a part of the creative mandate was also being handled by BBDO India.
 
Last week, the American automobile manufacturer announced that manufacturing of vehicles for local sale will cease immediately in India while export manufacturing will wind down at the Sanand plant by Q4 2021, and the Chennai engine and vehicle plants by Q2 2022.
 
Post that there has been speculation on the future of the agency GTB in India, but Campaign India has learnt that WPP doesn't plan on headcount reductions at this moment.
