Varun Mehta joins BBDO India

BBDO India has announced the appointment of Varun Mehta as senior creative director – special projects. He comes back to advertising following 18 months of focusing on his passion for photography and fine writing. Mehta spent his early years at Ogilvy and McCann before he moved to JWT and then DDB Mudra.

Speaking on the new appointment, Josy Paul, chairman and national creative director, BBDO India said, “We were hoping to keep this a trade secret, but everybody knows Varun. He is multi-talented and hugely creative. We can learn from his craft and varied experience, and wield his special skills like a ‘doosra’. We are fortunate to have him at the BBDO Ashram.”

Speaking about his move, Varun Mehta added, “I've wanted to work with Josy since his crazed David days, man, who knew we'd end up in a f*#@^** ashram together. But no seriously, I really think these guys have it going on and now to be part of it is a special feeling indeed. To find a bunch of intensely creative guys who care about nothing but the work, now that's rare. Opportunities like this don't come around often and I consider myself lucky to be at BBDO Ashram."

Mehta is best known for his award winning work on Economic Times ‘Power of Ideas’ and the Cycle Agarbatti campaigns.
