Tushar Shah to exit Sony Pictures Networks India

Sony Pictures Networks India has stated that Tushar Shah, chief marketing officer and business head for movies, regional, FTA and infotainment channels, will transition out of the organisation after a 16-year stint in his current tenure. Including his earlier period with the network between 2002 and 2005, Shah has spent more than 19 years with the company. His last working day will be 31 March 2026, during which time he will support transition and handover responsibilities. SPNI will announce a succession plan at a later stage.

Shah brings more than 30 years of experience across revenue, marketing and business roles in print, telecom and media. At SPNI, he has overseen strategy and operations across a wide portfolio including Sony MAX, Sony MAX 1, Sony MAX2, Sony PAL, Sony WAH, Sony Marathi, Sony AATH, Sony PIX and Sony BBC Earth. His achievements include the turnaround of Sony AATH, which has remained consistently profitable for more than a decade. He has also led the Hindi and English movie clusters, regional channels, FTA and infotainment portfolios with an emphasis on brand development, profitability and audience expansion.

A significant milestone during his tenure was the network-wide rebranding of Sony Pictures Networks India, delivering the first full refresh of the portfolio since its launch. Shah’s leadership has been associated with a strong understanding of audiences, disciplined brand-building and steady execution across varied genres.

Gaurav Banerjee, managing director and chief executive officer of Sony Pictures Networks India, acknowledged Shah’s contribution, noting his clarity of thought, consumer-first approach and role in shaping key business and brand milestones.

Shah expressed appreciation for the opportunities and professional relationships built over his years at SPNI, adding that he intends to explore new avenues while carrying forward the learnings and experiences from his time with the network.
