SMFG India Credit has launched its latest digital film, 'Pragati Ki Misaal', focused on demonstrating how access to timely credit can enable MSMEs to scale their businesses. The campaign uses AI-led storytelling to present a relatable entrepreneurial journey, aligning with the company’s broader narrative of enabling a ‘Pragati Ki Nayi Pehchaan’ for small businesses.
The film centres on a fictional character, Mishra ji, a small ball-bearing manufacturer whose business ambitions outgrow his existing infrastructure. As demand increases and orders rise, his workshop becomes insufficient to support expansion. Through financial support from SMFG India Credit, he is able to upgrade his operations, moving into a larger facility with improved efficiency and an assembly line designed for scale. The transformation positions him as a ‘Pragati Ki Misaal’, reflecting the aspirations of many MSME entrepreneurs.
The campaign adopts a simple and linear narrative structure to communicate its message. By focusing on a single protagonist and a clear growth arc, the storytelling aims to resonate with small business owners who face similar operational challenges. The use of AI-led storytelling further adds a contemporary layer to the execution, signalling the brand’s adoption of technology in both communication and product positioning.
The campaign highlights the role of responsible lending in bridging the gap between ambition and execution. It positions business loans not merely as financial products but as enablers of growth, capacity expansion and long-term sustainability. This aligns with SMFG India Credit’s positioning as a financial partner for MSMEs, supporting their progression from small-scale operations to more structured and scalable enterprises.
Ajay Pareek, chief business officer, SMFG India Credit, said, “India’s MSME sector represents the spirit of entrepreneurial aspiration that fuels the progress of Bharat. As India advances towards its vision of a Viksit Bharat, small businesses are playing an important role in and it is our endeavor to provide timely and accessible credit to businesses across Bharat, enabling them to grow, create opportunities, and contribute to the nation’s development.”
From a marketing perspective, the film reinforces category relevance by focusing on real-world business challenges rather than abstract financial messaging. By depicting a tangible use case—expansion of manufacturing capacity—the campaign demonstrates the practical impact of credit solutions. The narrative also reflects a broader industry trend where financial services brands are shifting towards storytelling-led communication to build emotional connection and trust among target audiences.
The digital-first rollout ensures accessibility across platforms, allowing the campaign to reach a wide base of MSME owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. By combining relatable storytelling with a clear product benefit, SMFG India Credit positions itself within the evolving financial services landscape as a brand focused on enabling business growth through accessible and timely lending solutions.
