Sahil Chopra joins JioHotstar as VP of consumer marketing

Sahil Chopra has taken on the role of vice president – consumer marketing at JioHotstar. Announcing the move on LinkedIn, Chopra noted that he was beginning a new chapter with the platform as part of its marketing leadership. The appointment reflects JioHotstar’s continued focus on expanding its consumer outreach and strengthening brand strategy in a rapidly evolving streaming landscape.

Chopra’s career spans senior roles across streaming and broadcast media. Before joining JioHotstar, he served as associate vice president of marketing at JioStar, where he led brand and digital marketing initiatives and contributed to broader platform-led growth efforts. His earlier tenure at Viacom18 lasted nearly a decade, during which he progressed from manager to associate vice president across several entertainment brands including MTV, Vh1, Colors Infinity, Comedy Central and VOOT.

During his time at Viacom18, Chopra worked across disciplines such as title marketing, viewer acquisition and creative strategy. He also contributed to major sports properties, leading marketing planning for marquee events including the IPL, BCCI domestic series, the Olympics and the WPL. His work integrated brand building with performance-focused campaigns across digital ecosystems, reflecting the shift toward data-led marketing in sports and entertainment.

Chopra’s earlier experience includes roles at The Times of India group, where he worked as assistant brand manager and brand manager across Mumbai Mirror and Bombay Times. He began his career as a management trainee at Hero Honda Motors, gaining early exposure to consumer marketing and brand strategy.

In his new position at JioHotstar, Chopra is expected to play a central role in shaping consumer engagement, strengthening the brand’s positioning and supporting content-led growth. His multi-genre experience across youth, mainstream and sports audiences positions him to contribute to JioHotstar’s next phase of expansion.
