Publicis Sapient has launched a new focus area in India to help global enterprises to build, scale, and transform their global capability centres (GCCs). According to the digital business transformation company, India has emerged as the global capital for GCCs with over 1,700 centres and contributing over 1% to the country’s GDP.
As per a Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) report, this sector has evolved into a formidable pillar of the modern economy, powering $241 billion in economic activity in FY2025 alone. Of this total share, $76 billion stems from direct output, $61 billion flows in through supply chain linkages, and another $104 billion is borne out of induced consumption across the economy, D&B estimates.
Publicis Sapient expects the total number of Indian GCCs to double by 2030. Under its new focus area, the company aims to address the growing demand by organisations for partners who can help them transform and grow their GCC business ventures.
“With our new focus area in India, we are helping enterprises unlock the full potential of their GCCs—accelerating innovation, enhancing agility, and delivering measurable business value and impact. India’s scale, talent, and digital ambition make it the ideal launchpad for this evolution,” said Publicis Sapient CEO Nigel Vaz.
The company will support enterprises through every stage of their GCC lifecycle across strategy, product, experience, engineering, and data and AI (SPEED) to deliver long-term impact. The new focus area will follow an ESA model (establish–scale–acquire) to help global organisations achieve success for their GCC endeavours.
Under 'establish', Publicis Sapient will help organisations set up AI-first, culturally aligned GCCs that operate as their seamless core business extensions. Under 'scale', it will enable existing GCCs to evolve into future-ready, innovation-driven hubs through capability building, performance management, and continuous improvement. Under 'acquire', it plans to help organisations transform their under-leveraged GCCs into value centres through acquisition and reinvention.
“Our clients increasingly view GCCs not just as cost centres, but as engines of transformation. Our new focus area will help businesses tap into India’s deep talent pool and innovation ecosystem in a scalable, compliant, and future-focused way,” said Sanjay Menon, executive vice president and managing director, Publicis Sapient India.
