Print and electronic media establishments can continue operating during lockdown period in Maharashtra: CM
Uddhav Thackeray, chief minister of Maharashtra, has announced that print and electronic media establishments can operate during the lockdown period in the state.
 
The chief minister announced a list of 'essential goods and services' sectors that can continue operating during the lockdown which is extended till 31 March 2020. All state borders have been closed down.
 
Along with print and media establishments, this includes banks/ATMs, insurance, fintech services and related activities, e-commerce delivery of essential goods including food, pharmaceutical and medical equipment. 
 
This follows print media houses in Mumbai suspending the publishing and distribution of their print editions. According to news reports, vendors will not be distributing papers in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
