Leo Burnett’s KV Sridhar aka Pops has showcased 28 of his paintings created on iPad at the Scarecrow Art Gallery in Mumbai. The exhibition, scheduled to run till June 30, will be open for public from 11 am to 8 pm (Mon to Sat).
Niyatee Shinde, curator for the exhibition feels that ‘iPOPS – a preview’ is an exhibition of paintings inspired or born out of an inherent creative genius, executed on the iPAD and printed on canvas. “Stark lines define forms (mostly women) held in primary colors. A certain naivety layers the work in the rendering and in the expressions on the faces of women who people the canvases. However, that simplicity is obviously a masquerade on deeper observation. Though executed with some ease, they are an exploration of the creative possibilities of a certain software as visually impasto layers rest flatly on the canvas surface and appear tangible,” she added.
A workshop conducted by Pops on the technique of painting using the iPad has been scheduled for June 30. Interested artists, who wish to explore this exciting new genre, have to mail three to five of their best artworks to [email protected]. Twenty five shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the workshop, and the best one will take home a dazzling new iPad.
