Network 18 has announced the appointment of Lakshmi Narasimhan as the CEO of their magazine publishing business under Infomedia which they acquired in December last year. Narasimhan was leading business development at Network 18 alongwith specific responsibility for maximizing revenues at the company. He was also involved in setting up several new ventures at Network 18, including Sports 18 and Synergy 18. Narasimhan's previous stint was as the head of the Central Trading Group - Group M’s media buying arm in India, and has over 14 years experience in a career spanning media buying, revenue management and business development.

When contacted by Campaign India, Narasimhan said that his primary mandate at Infomedia would be to scale up the business and leverage the synergies of Network 18's assets in print, online and television. He added, "We have two distinct segments within the publishing business, mainly the consumer magazine business and the trade magazine business. The good thing about the Indian market is that any niche that you pick invariably has a large community around it, which can be tapped. In the Indian publishing market, niche segments have not been fully exploited, to date. My job would be to ensure that we fully leverage Network 18's synergies across online, print and television to help grow the business."

Infomedia’s magazine portfolio currently has 21 special interest titles – including Overdrive, Chip and T3.
