Marie Claire ushers in third year with launch of fashion awards

Celebrating the second anniversary of Marie Claire's launch in India, the Outlook Group has announced the first edition of Indian fashion awards, 'Made in India 2008'.

"Based on the international 'Prix d' Excellence' de la mode awards for international fashion designers given by the French Marie Claire, these are the first ever such awards to be instituted by a fashion magazine in India," said Suresh Selvaraj, president, Outlook Group (pictured), adding, "The competition, I am afraid, will follow in some way or the other."

Open only to Indian designers, the 2008 edition of the awards will review the F/W collections presented in the two fashion weeks in Delhi and Mumbai. "These awards will have an editorial extension as we start a special series of stories on India's best weaves, dying arts, the most innovative weavers, the master craftspeople of the country," added Selvaraj. "We will promote them through all our properties."

The Group also recently announced plans to roll out four new magazines this year including People and Geo.
