Live from New York: Mark Wnek, Jan Leth party at One Show

The One Show awards that took place on Wednesday night at the Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York's bustling Broadway area, was a meeting ground for creative directors, suits,  advertising legends and bright eyed junior copywriters, besides international press folks like us, who all came together to attend the 2008 One show Awards night. The evening began with a cocktail reception at the VIP room at the Lincoln Center, where we spotted host One Club's Mary Warlick, Kevin Swanepoel and David Baldwin chatting up the guests.

The evening began with a cocktail reception at the VIP room at the Lincoln Center, where we spotted host One Club's Mary Warlick, Kevin Swanepoel and David Baldwin chatting up the guests. Some other familiar faces included Lowe's chairman and chief creative officer Mark Wnek, Ogilvy New York's co-chief creative officer Jan Leth, Grey's creative director Tor Myhren, and Ogilvy Toronto's Nancy Vonk. Vonk was also a part of the ceremony as a presenter. Also spotted were SS+K's Marty Cooke and OpenAd's Katarina Skoberne. The award show ceremony was hosted by stand up comedian Tom Papa along with a host of presenters from Adland. The surprise for the evening was Burger King's mascot dressed in full regalia coming on stage to collect the fast food chain's award for One Show's 2008 Advertiser of the year honour.

TBWA Chiat Day, LA's Chris Adams, Anomaly New York's Mike Byrne (previously with W+K) and Denstu Japan's Masako Okamura were some of the other faces spotted at the awards ceremony. The show was followed by an-after party at a different venue, and featured a live performance by the band Bitter:Sweet (see picture). Apt name for a group performing at an advertising awards show, we think.
