Laadli’s gender sensitivity workshop for media and ad frat

Workshop titled ‘Men are from Venus, Women are from Mars’ will be hosted on 25 November in Mumbai

Laadli’s gender sensitivity workshop for media and ad frat

Population First’s Laadli campaign is working towards changing the way women are treated in India by working with key influencers like media, advertising, and the youth. To this end, it will be conducting a workshop titled ‘Men are from Venus, Women are from Mars’ on 25 November 2013, at Mayfair Banquets, Mumbai, addressing the media and advertising fraternity.

The workshop aims at exploring gender similarities and appreciate gender differences specifically in the workplace, and explore opportunities for sensitive messaging in advertising. This workshop is being designed and managed by Social Access.

The workshop will feature two panel discussions - one that highlights the changing fabric of the Indian workplace, and the other, which will explore the idea of self-regulation in the development of the messaging and the possibility of a mechanism to gauge the neutrality and sensitivity of messages.

The panel discussion will be based on the findings of a customised pre-event opinion study. The study will capture opinions of both men and women, to reflect how ‘gender equal’ the employer and the workplace is. This online survey will be conducted amongst 200 mid-to-senior-level media and advertising professionals covering different departments within organisations. The findings of the research will be presented prior to the panel discussion.
