John Thangaraj is set to join Havas India in a strategy role. He’s moving into the agency from FCB India where he served as group chief strategy officer.

Sources close have told Campaign India that appointment has already taken place and it is only a matter of time before Thangaraj officially takes on the role of chief strategy officer at the Indian arm of the global agency network. Campaign India also learned that he had resigned from FCB India in early May, after eight years with the company.

When Campaign India contacted Havas India to confirm this appointment, the agency stated the appointment "is still not closed."

Thangaraj joined FCB India as executive planning director in 2016 and was promoted to a group mandate position just over a year ago. His prior agency stints were at Mindshare, MullenLowe Lintas, and Rediffusion Y&R, and he was also associated with Adidas.

Thangaraj joins the league of senior leaders who have called it quits at FCB India in recent times. As reported by Campaign India earlier, Abhinav Kaushik and Arijit Sengupta have also moved on from their roles of president and executive creative director, respectively.
