
Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific (DNAP) has elevated Vikram Channa (pictured) as vice president - programming, India and head of production, Asia Pacific. Earlier, Channa was vice president, content. He will be based out of DNAP's New Delhi office and will assume his new responsibilities from July 1.
Channa will report to Tom Keaveny, executive vice president and managing director, DNAP for all matters relating to APAC production. For issues relating to programming for India, Channa will report to Rahul Johri, senior vice president and general manager, India, DNAP.
Commenting about the elevation, Johri said, "I am very excited about Vikram Channa moving to New Delhi and am confident that his vast experience in programming and production will benefit all three Discovery networks in India. Channa’s appointment reinforces the company’s commitment to deliver the highest quality entertainment and value to both viewers and advertisers.”
Channa will focus on managing and directing all aspects of programming for the network across India, from programme sourcing and scheduling to formulation of strategy to implementation. He will oversee the India programming team while working closely with other departments such as marketing and advertising sales.
He has been with Discovery since 1995. He began his working career in India as an independent producer of short films.
