Dinamalar launches iPhone and iPod touch apps

Dinamalar has announced the launch of its iPhone and iPod Touch app. With the launch of the app, Dinamalar claims to be the first Tamil publication to be present on these two mobile devices. The app covers various fields of interest from business, cinema and sports to astrology, and also features a NRIs news section, live and recent Cricket updates and photo and video content.

Elaborating on the thought behind the publication’s foray into the mobile space, Adimoolam Lakshmipathy, director, Dinamalar said, “People are always on the move today and moving into the mobile space was a natural progression. For decades now Dinamalar has been acknowledged as a pioneer in various dimensions and the move to create an iPhone and iPod, is just an extension of our commitment to keep people informed 24x7.”

Balasubramanian S, head – marketing (New Media), Dinamalar.com, added “While our continued top position is a great initiator of our top-notch innovations, the publication’s move to create iPhone and iPod apps was more a necessity, in answer to our dedicated users’ demands. With Dinamalar.com holding a majority share of online traffic in Tamil News readers, we felt compelled to ensure that our readers have enhanced all-time access to the real-time news that we provide no matter where they are.”

The app, developed by Robosoft Technologies, not only allows users to share news and updates on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter and also through email, but also provides readers with the option to share their comments.
