BombayDC develops AI-driven, school-aligned exam prep app for UPRIO

BOMBAYDC has partnered with UPRIO to build an AI-powered exam preparation app designed to align closely with school curricula while supporting students beyond the classroom. The platform functions as an after-school learning companion, with its design focused on creating a seamless, intuitive and human-centred experience.

The development process drew on research and self-determination theory and involved extensive user insight gathering. Interviews with students and parents, competitive audits and the testing of two full prototypes informed a distraction-free UX strategy supported by a scalable component library. This approach shaped an app environment that allows students to tailor their learning pace rather than follow rigid pathways.

The app incorporates a flexible learning flow where students can watch video lessons, attempt written and MCQ-based practice exercises, schedule mock tests, join live revision classes, use buddy assistance and track their progress. These features are aimed at integrating classroom learning with exam preparation while encouraging self-guided improvement.

Mrinal Mohit, founder, UPRIO, said BOMBAYDC translated the platform’s vision into a structured and empathetic design that responds to the needs of both students and parents. He noted that unlike other study-prep apps, the platform is both AI-enabled and aligned with school syllabuses, and that early response from users in Bangalore and Delhi has been strong.

Ankur Rander, founder and CEO, BOMBAYDC, said the design challenge was to make exam preparation engaging for 11-year-olds by building around their instincts and academic routines. He explained that the team focused on information architecture and interaction design to ensure the app remained simple, easy to use and free of unnecessary clutter.
