Favourite Website Awards (FWA), an industry recognised internet award program and portal, has awarded the Allen Solly website the 'Site of The Day' award for August 9, 2010. A note on the FWA website speaks of its purpose: "By scouting the web and evaluating nominated sites, using a well established criteria and evaluation procedure, FWA selects and showcases future thinking, progressively designed sites who use cutting edge technology, together with inspirational ideas, that lead the way for future generations."
Campaign India spoke to Naim Shaikh, lead designer at BC Web Wise, about the project. "The client brief was that Allen Solly is bringing modern art to modern fashion doing summer style like nobody else. The new range of youthful work and casual wear lets you live life 3D in a 2D world," he explained. "As an agency BCWW has always delivered innovative works for Allen Solly. Offline Creatives used by Allen Solly are very cool and give a 3D effect. We have taken that route and used 3D PaperVision Technology (Flash Action Script 3) to give the website a interactive and lively 3D look." He also revealed that the music that runs on the website was purchased specifically for the website from Video Co-pilot music.
Speaking about the win and what it means for the agency, Shaikh said, "It is very big for us. FWA has its own reputation in the world of web design. FWA has been in existence for more than 7-8 yrs and it awards the most interactive and innovative sites throughout the world. Only 1 or 2 Indian websites have been featured on FWA in last 7-8 yrs before Allen Solly. It is a great achivement for bcwebwise and for a brand like Allen Solly featuring on the FWA." He added that the website also featured as "Site of the Day" on the design communities like bestwebdesign.com, designtaxi.com, sj63.com and dbcut.com.
