"Entries to D&AD have gone up over 10 per cent this year, which is a reflection of D&AD’s increasing popularity in maturing creative markets like Brazil, India and China," D&AD CEO Tim Lindsay commented. "The main theme we’re seeing this year is one of convergence: the lines between categories are becoming more and more blurred, which means ideas have to be smarter and the execution more pristine than ever. We’ve also seen a massive increase in smaller design studios entering—which I hope indicates the creative industries are in rude health at every level.”
In total, D&AD gave out 683 awards, up from 614 last year. Globally, at this stage, Grey London has racked up the highest number of accolades with 19 (two nominations and 17 in-books).
Editor's note: D&AD provided the video above, in which Tim Lindsay, CEO of the organisation, talks about the globalisation of the awards over the last several years and the quality of work from Asia in particular.
