Shaun Frazao, head of data and technology on WPP Media’s global growth team, has left the business to focus on a career in public and political affairs.

Announcing the news on LinkedIn, Frazao wrote: “After a decade in marketing and advertising – seven of those years with WPP/WPP Media/Wavemaker – it’s time to close this chapter. I am saying goodbye to a company I will deeply miss, and to an industry that has shaped who I am professionally (and sometimes personally) in ways I could never have imagined.”

Frazao added that he would be "stepping back" into the public and political affairs space, having previously worked as a research assistant and locum lecturer at North-West University in South Africa.

As head of data and technology, global growth, Frazao was part of a new team developed by WPP Media global chief business officer Toby Jenner in January this year. This formed part of Jenner’s previous remit as global president, Group M clients.

Before January, Frazao was global senior strategy partner at Wavemaker, responsible for leading strategic development on key new-business pitches, including Honor, and seeking growth opportunities and overseeing global media investment and communication strategy for Danone.

He began his tenure at Wavemaker South Africa as the head of digital and content in 2019.

WPP Media was contacted for comment.

Speaking to Campaign, Frazao said: "I am forever thankful for the opportunities, trust and friendship that WPP provided me. WPP has the courage to pivot, to make tough decisions, and to shape the future of advertising, and I feel privileged to have been part of that journey. I look forward to watching them succeed."
