Things They Like: Minakshi Achan

Minakshi Achan, co-founder, Salt Brand Solutions, talks about gadgets, clothes, the Mini Cooper on her wishlist, and more.

Things They Like: Minakshi Achan
Achan’s must have gadget is her iPhone - it accompanies her everywhere. She also has an iPad which plays the role of a note taker more than anything else. “I am not a gadget freak so I don’t particularly chase the newest gadgets in town, just what’s useful,” she explains.

She likes unfussy clothes, with simple, sharp, classic cuts. It’s cotton or linens at work and classic cuts in silk at parties for her. She follows any brand which has great cuts like Japanese brand Kotya Kua, a boutique brand, for its organic cottons and ‘simple sophisticated’ cuts. She is also fond of Hussein Challayan and Rajesh Prataps’ collections. She likes Challayan because of their fantastic and unpredictable cuts and loves the simplicity of Pratap’s collection. Her favorite denim brand is Earnest Swen.

When it comes to accessories, she has a plain platinum oval bangle, which is a fixture on her wrist. She wears solitaries everyday, and has a vast collection in antique silver. Like most women, ‘the eternal Diamond’ is her favourite gemstone. She has an antique Baume and Mercier watch and her grandfather’s old Rolex and an old fashioned HMT gifted by her teacher.

Among shoes, she likes anything which looks unusual and fabulous and typically buys off the street. She carries a vintage Chanel bag on most days and has a huge collection of different unbranded handstiched bags picked up from everywhere including remote Indian villages. Narcisco Rodriguez and Clive Christian are the perfume brands she alternates between. “I like Narciso Rodriguez because it isn’t too heady and wears well through the day,” she says.

Achan, who rode a Bullet in her college days,  drives a Skoda. Her dream car is the Mini Cooper.
