Swiggy partners Sarvam for multilingual voice commerce

Swiggy integrates AI-led voice capabilities to enable multilingual, conversational commerce across food delivery, grocery and dining services.

Swiggy has partnered with Sarvam to introduce multilingual, voice-led commerce across its food delivery, Instamart and Dineout services. The collaboration marks a shift towards AI-native, conversational interfaces aimed at expanding accessibility across India’s linguistically diverse user base.

The integration leverages Sarvam’s full-stack AI capabilities to enable users to place orders, discover products and complete transactions using voice commands in their preferred language. This builds on Swiggy’s existing Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations and extends its focus on creating seamless, end-to-end digital experiences powered by artificial intelligence.

A key component of the initiative is the inclusion of Razorpay, which powers secure, agentic payments through UPI Reserve Pay. This enables a fully transactional journey within a conversational interface, allowing users to move from discovery to checkout without switching platforms or interfaces.

The collaboration introduces two distinct use cases. The first removes reliance on app-based interfaces by enabling phone call-based ordering, demonstrated at the India AI Impact Summit. This allows users to place Instamart orders without requiring an app, download or internet access, expanding reach to less digitally penetrated segments.

The second use case brings Swiggy onto AI-native platforms, including Indus, where users can interact conversationally in multiple languages. This positions Swiggy as an early adopter of AI-led commerce ecosystems, integrating discovery, ordering and payments within a single conversational flow.

Sarvam’s voice models support 11 Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali and Marathi, enabling natural and culturally relevant interactions. By embedding these capabilities, Swiggy aims to reduce friction in user journeys and make digital commerce more intuitive for a wider audience.

Madhusudhan Rao said, “At Swiggy, our mission is to deliver unparalleled convenience to our consumers. After rolling out MCP integrations across our services, the next step was to make these experiences truly accessible to every Indian. True accessibility means meeting users where they are, in the languages they speak. By leveraging Sarvam’s sovereign models built for India’s diverse linguistic landscape, alongside secure payments infrastructure, we are creating a distinctly India-first experience. Soon, users will be able to simply ask their AI assistant in their preferred language to order food or groceries, and reserve tables, with the AI agent seamlessly handling discovery, ordering, and checkout.”

Pratyush Kumar said, “India is a voice-first nation, and the next billion users of AI will experience it in the language they choose. Our partnership with Swiggy brings that vision to life in one of the most everyday, high-frequency use cases there is: ordering food and groceries. By embedding Sarvam's full-stack AI into the heart of Swiggy's commerce experience, we are taking AI from a novelty for the few to a utility for the many. This is what it means to build AI for India, at population scale.”

Khilan Haria added, “India’s next phase of digital commerce will be shaped by experiences that feel effortless and intuitive. Our partnership with Swiggy brings this to life by enabling everyday moments like ordering food through voice, powered by Razorpay’s agentic payments infrastructure and Sarvam AI’s Indic language intelligence - allowing AI agents to understand intent and complete transactions seamlessly. By bringing together conversational AI and seamless payments, we’re moving closer to a future where everyday commerce is faster, more natural, and built around how people actually interact.”

The collaboration reflects a broader shift towards conversational commerce, where voice, AI and payments converge to redefine user engagement. By prioritising multilingual accessibility and seamless journeys, Swiggy is positioning itself to capture the next wave of digital adoption, particularly among users more comfortable interacting in regional languages.
