Happy Creative Services has announced the appointment of Siddhartha Roy as chief operating officer, a newly created role. In his last role at Phoenix Ogilvy - Sri Lanka, Roy headed the strategic planning cell and led the account management division. At Happy, Roy will be based out of the agency's headquarters in Bengaluru.

Commenting on the new appointment, Kartik Iyer, co-founder and chief executive officer, Happy Creative Services, said, "Praveen (Das) and myself have done things by ourselves so far. We think it's time to take a more structured approach to reach our goals. He (Roy) comes with the right level of experience combined with the hunger to do the unexpected – this is very much the DNA of Happy. We welcome him and are very confident this addition will take things to a whole new level. Infact, it already has."

On his shift to the agency, Roy added, "I think there are seismic changes taking place in the business of communications today. Gone are the days of agency imperialism. While marketers are looking for ‘ideas’, large network agencies are increasingly selling ‘processes’. And over the past few years, Happy has been successfully capitalising on this need-gap. This is the primary reason for me to join the Happy family – and I’m extremely excited about it."

Roy, who moves in from Phoenix Ogilvy - Sri Lanka, has over 16 years experience in the space and has spent around a decade with Ogilvy in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Sri Lanka. He has also worked with Ambience, Everest and loyalty marketing specialist DIREM.
