Pokémon GO is bringing a community-focused running experience to Bengaluru in partnership with Stride Run Club, as part of its broader strategy to strengthen real-world engagement and social gameplay experiences in India.
Scheduled for 23 May 2026, the initiative invites Pokémon GO Trainers and running enthusiasts to participate in a morning run designed around movement, exploration and interactive gameplay. The event blends physical activity with in-game engagement, turning the running experience into an extension of Pokémon GO’s location-based gaming format.
As part of the activation, participants will be able to hatch in-game Pokémon Eggs while completing the run with Stride Run Club. The gameplay mechanic integrates walking and movement directly into the event experience, with each step contributing towards in-game progress. Select participants will also have the opportunity to win Pokémon merchandise during the event.
The initiative further extends into social and content-led engagement through GO Snapshot, allowing participants to capture images with Pokémon characters at Bengaluru landmarks. Through this feature, the city becomes part of the gameplay and user-generated content experience, encouraging exploration and social sharing among attendees.
The collaboration reflects Pokémon GO’s continuing focus on community-led and outdoor experiences in India. By partnering with Stride Run Club, one of Bengaluru’s active running communities, the brand aims to connect fitness culture with gaming-led social interaction.
The campaign aligns with Pokémon GO’s larger positioning around movement, exploration and real-world connectivity. Through gameplay that encourages players to walk, discover locations and interact with communities, the platform continues to integrate physical activity into digital entertainment experiences.
Hui Elaine, senior director, APAC regional marketing, Niantic, Inc., said, “We at Pokémon GO have always been supporting community led events. This event with Stride Run club is part of our strategy to create social discovery experiences that root Pokémon GO in people's lives. It is a perfect platform to bring our Trainer community together.”
Speaking about the partnership, Sidharth Yadav, founder, Stride Run Club, said, “We are thrilled to be part of this Pokémon GO experience in Bengaluru. At Stride Run Club, we believe that running is best enjoyed in good company. Partnering with Pokémon GO takes that experience to a whole new level, adding an interactive layer to the experience. We can’t wait to see our community join Trainers in discovering Bengaluru through the lens of Pokémon GO.”
The Bengaluru run forms part of Pokémon GO’s wider community engagement efforts in India, following initiatives including Pokémon GO City Safari in Mumbai and activations across educational institutions. The brand continues to expand its presence through location-led experiences that combine gaming, outdoor activity and community participation.
Pokémon GO said creating shared real-world adventures and encouraging player interaction remain central to its India growth strategy as the platform continues to build local engagement opportunities.
