New York Festivals has announced the debut of two new awards that will be presented in the 2009 NYF Advertising in All Media Awards. The newly launched awards are 'Boutique Agency of the Year' and 'Best New Agency'. The aim of introducing these awards, according to the festival organisers, is "to showcase smaller creative and upcoming shops."
Speaking about the development, Michael Rourke, president, NYF (pictured) said, "“We realize that in most competitions only the large networked agencies win Agency of the Year, but we also recognize that there are agencies out there that are doing great work and are simply being overshadowed because their awards budgets are small in comparison. It’s our goal to make sure we recognize great work from anyone, anywhere, from the three person shop in someone’s apartment to the five story building downtown."
For the 'Boutique Agency of the Year' award, entries will be selected from agencies that are not affiliated with any agency networks and have less than 75 employees. The 'Best New Agency' award allows agencies in business for less than two years to compete and be recognized for their creative achievements, their ability to garner international exposure and the impact their work has on the marketplace.
