Outlook Publishing India has announced a series of editorial leadership changes as the publisher sharpens its focus on digital transformation and long-form journalism amid continued shifts in India’s media landscape.

Neeraj Thakur will now take charge of Outlook India as editor, while continuing in his existing role as editor of Outlook Business. The move follows the departure of Chinki Sinha as editor of Outlook India. She was the first woman to head the publication’s editorial team in 26 years. Sinha previously worked with Open, India Today and The Indian Express, and contributed to BBC News and Al Jazeera.

Founded by the Rajan Raheja Group, Outlook India was launched in October 1995 under founding editor-in-chief, the late Vinod Mehta. Its first issue was published on October 11, 1995, positioning the magazine as an independent current affairs publication during a period of rapid expansion in private media.

Thakur joined Outlook Business in 2021 as editor-special projects and became editor in October 2024. Over a career spanning more than 17 years across print, television and digital media, he has worked with Inc42 Media, Value 360 Communications, BTVI, NDTV, BusinessWorld, DNA and Business Standard. His editorial focus has included political economy, trade policy, technology regulation and India’s federal governance structure.

The publisher has also promoted Prachi Khanna as chief content officer across Outlook India and Outlook Business, while Deepsekhar Chaudhary has been elevated to managing editor at Outlook Business.

Khanna has previously worked with Microsoft Start, Dainik Bhaskar Group, Live India, Orissa Post and The Pioneer. Chaudhary currently oversees Outlook Business’ technology and startup coverage, spanning AI, fintech, quick commerce, semiconductors and electric vehicles, and hosts the Escape Velocity podcast.

The leadership reshuffle comes as Outlook Publishing India, under CEO Indranil Roy, expands its digital operations and experiments with AI-led monetisation tools — reflecting a broader trend among legacy publishers attempting to balance subscription ambitions, platform dependency and evolving audience behaviour.
