Music Nova has entered into a strategic publishing agreement with Universal Music Publishing India, a part of Universal Music Publishing Group. The collaboration is aimed at scaling the global visibility and commercial potential of Music Nova’s catalogue through structured publishing, licensing and synchronisation opportunities.
Under the agreement, Universal Music Publishing India (UMPI) will administer Music Nova’s publishing catalogue worldwide. The mandate includes managing licensing, royalty collection and sync placements across film, television, OTT platforms and advertising. This expands Music Nova’s ability to monetise its repertoire while integrating it into a global publishing ecosystem.
The partnership strengthens Music Nova’s positioning within the content economy, where music rights are increasingly leveraged across branded content, digital video and advertising. By aligning with UMPI’s global network and expertise, the label aims to unlock new revenue streams while increasing the discoverability of its music across international markets.
The deal reflects a broader shift in the music and media landscape, where regional and culturally rooted content is gaining traction across platforms. The rise of OTT services, short-form video and streaming platforms has accelerated demand for diverse music catalogues, particularly those with strong cultural resonance. Regional and devotional music, in particular, is witnessing renewed interest, driven by diaspora audiences and its growing integration into mainstream storytelling and branded content.
Music Nova’s catalogue spans multiple genres including regional, spiritual, devotional and fusion music, with content available in eight languages. This diversity positions the label for cross-platform usage, particularly in advertising and entertainment formats that require culturally nuanced soundtracks. The structured publishing support from UMPI is expected to enhance the catalogue’s accessibility for global creators, brands and production houses.
Dhiraj Advani, partner, Media Nova, said, “This partnership marks a significant step for Music Nova as we expand the global reach of our music. By joining forces with Universal Music Publishing India, we aim to maximize the impact of our artists and compositions across platforms and markets.”
For UMPI, the collaboration adds a specialised catalogue to its portfolio, enabling it to tap into the growing demand for Indian regional and devotional music in global content pipelines. The partnership also reinforces the role of music publishing in connecting creators with commercial opportunities across advertising, film and digital ecosystems.
The alliance positions both companies to capitalise on the convergence of music, media and marketing, where synchronisation and licensing play a critical role in storytelling and brand engagement. By combining Music Nova’s content depth with UMPI’s global infrastructure, the partnership aims to drive both cultural reach and commercial scale.
Overall, the deal highlights how music labels are increasingly leveraging publishing partnerships to extend their footprint beyond traditional distribution, integrating more deeply into advertising, OTT and global content strategies.
