London International Awards 2020 cancelled due to Covid-19

Organisers believe celebrating award-winning work when people are suffering will be 'hard'

The organisers of the London International Awards have decided to cancel the 2020 edition and the LIAsons program due to Covid-19.

The awards are set to resume in 2021.

In a statement, Barbara Levy, president, LIA, said, "Our industry is in a world of pain right now, and whilst Covid-19 is the driving issue, the economic impact to our many friends and partners in the industry is going to be severe and we think it inappropriate to pretend the world is in a normal place and it is business as usual. To that end, we have decided not to open our 2020 entry system."

She added, "Although we are a business too, and will feel the pain, I find it hard to contemplate celebrating even award winning work when in fact so many people are and will be suffering."
